Teenagers are very complex human beings and they are often easily frustrated with their parents mere existence. This is exactly why the parents should aide the girls in taking the initiative to protect themselves as their future is at risk. Condoms are a great start, but to be honest how many kids actually use them when they engage in sex and actually use them correctly? Not many, or the teenage pregnancy rate would not be as high as it currently is. The best thing a parent can do is get their daughter to the gynecologist office and get them started on some form of birth control. This is the only fool proof method of knowing your child will not be having their own child in the near future. It is the responsibly of the parents to ensure their children have enough information regarding the incidents that can effect getting pregnant and the consequences of it as well. Some young girls have this distorted vision of what becoming a young mother truly is and they do not take is very realistically. They can result in having a baby way too young or having to make a life changing decision of giving their first born up for adoption which can deeply impact their emotional stability for the rest of their lives and even yours as well. The good thing is that preventing teenage pregnancy is completely preventable and all it takes is an understanding parent with an open ear and reasonable plan to protect their daughter's future for the better.
